Sri Lankan Airlines Announces Healthy Flying Plan

The National Carrier, Sri Lankan has announced a number of measures to ensure a safe flying experience. The Air Line said that a number of enhanced cleaning and precautionary measures are in place.

Sri Lankan Airlines Announces Healthy Flying PlanIn light of the evolving situation regarding the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), we at SriLankan Airlines consider the health and safety of all our customers and crew as our utmost priority. Thus, SriLankan Airlines has taken proactive and voluntary steps to help customers have a healthy flying experience and create a safe operational environment, and we would like to share with you the enhanced cleaning and precautionary measures that has been introduced.


We are working closely with the authorities to minimize the potential spread of Covid-19. This includes screening of passengers on the ground and the following health advisory notices by the Ministry of Health – Sri Lanka and the World Health Organization.

All SriLankan Aircraft undergo a rigorous deep cleaning process as per the standard guidelines of the World Health Organization including a thorough disinfection process of common surface areas such as tray tables, handsets, and in-flight entertainment screens with 70% isopropyl alcohol. The air filtration systems in our aircraft are equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, which have a similar performance to those used in hospital operation rooms. Constant airflow also ensures that the cabin air is refreshed every few minutes. We also replace all headsets, headrest covers, pillow covers, and blankets after every flight sector, while all reading material from seat-back pockets have been temporarily removed as a precautionary measure.

Further, our crew have also been informed to seek immediate medical attention if they feel unwell and should not report for work if they deem unfit, whereas passengers who are feeling unwell are strongly advised to promptly seek medical attention and report their travel history.
